No gramps is still getting over the 3800 miles of seat time.

I have yet to figure out if I'm coming down this year or not. It will probably be a last minute decision.

Trip my plan is still to arrive at the gap around noon on Thursday. You'll be there? Should we meet @ tapoco or the store or what?

PM me your cell, I'll call you during my long ride down there and we'll hammer out the details. I'll be figuring out how to rendezvous with NtS as well.

Trip 05-28-2008 02:56 PM

Right now it looks like I will be leaving from knoxville thursday morning because I was not able to get the room I wanted for wednesday night. I still need one of you guys to let me crash in your room thursday night. I am more than willing to wait for ya and ride up there from knoxville thursday. I will pm my # to ya.

I may end up staying in knoxville wednesday night if I can make it that far in one day... I'm not sure though I will have to play it by year.

As nts and I make our way down we'll all keep in touch and meet up thursday morning, if not wednesday night.

I'm getting ridiculously psyched for this trip.... now let's just hope I don't go out and fucking crash 1st lap of my first TD on monday

Trip 05-28-2008 03:04 PM

Yeah if yall get here wednesday night that would be cool, we could hooliganize a local establishment.

t-homo 05-28-2008 04:31 PM

CEO, are you driving or riding this whole trip? Driving I assume, but riding would be really cool.

the chi 05-28-2008 04:47 PM

seriously guys, if we can get away with it, you can chill in my room Wednesday night if you want.

I dont mind, especially since I will be getting an early start Thursday I think, to go through the dragon a few times and I wouldnt mind the local assistance, unless you are planning on getting there early...my plans are to get to the lodge around 3 or so, unload and ride a bit till it gets dark or something, shoot, I may go see wheeler and get some work done too...decisions decisions...

I mentioned it to my fiance last week, and she got pissed because I always plan vacations for myself, but not for the both of us. Well whoopti fuckin do! I always go to the gap every freakin year at the same time every year for the past 5 or 6 years.
Gas is so freakin redicoulous right now anyway....so I'm coming down in late september or early october....I will make a trip to the gap this year....dammit!

I'm driving, for many many reasons.

If I had a long ass time to do all this, I might ride the whole thing, take all back roads the whole way... but just to ride a shitload of highway to try to get places is a waste of tires and wear on the bike.

Also with all the track days I need to bring a lot of supplies and tools and stuff just in case.

lame, well hope to see you at the end of the year, but there is a couple weekends I won't be able to get out of in sept/oct. The wedding/honeymoon weekends at the end of oct and indy in sept.

Depends, if they stay in knoxville that night, yall could make the trek out here and back to eat dinner and then we could all head out early thursday to meet up with you as early as possible the next morning.

Mr Lefty 05-28-2008 06:44 PM

before... kinda depends on you Rae and Drewpy's schedules as to when though... but I'd like to stay two nights in TN... spending the day at the Gap...

but we'll figure it out as sept approaches

NONE_too_SOFT 05-28-2008 07:46 PM

wow a week to go now. gonna have some fun.

Trip 05-28-2008 07:49 PM

Well I got the corsa IIIs mounted, decided to not put on new tires and just use my track tires and get some new track tires before nashville. Got A's passenger pegs remounted and cleaned/lubed the chain. Besides a bath, she is ready to go.

I won't push it in the wet, plus it will be a lot warmer than it was in march. Easier to get em up to temp. It was just too cold and wet to build up heat at Barber.

Mr Lefty 05-28-2008 07:57 PM

well regardless... I hope it's fuck'n dry for ya'll... same as for Indy it can rain all the way up to the day I get to your place... but I want it dry for riding the gap and for Indy... so 10th -14th then it can pour down again

having said that... it'll do just the opposite

Im getting mine put on tomorrow. how many miles would you say they took to break in? Had to re-mount my pass pegs again, in hopes they'll assist w/ my luggage, do you have as much trouble as me getting that tail fairing off (i got it off a little easier this time, but what a bitch).

yea im hoping for no rain, but eh, whatcha gonna do. so long as its no typhoon we'll be good.

No my tail fairing comes off easy, why did you have to take it off? My pass. pegs come off with out removing if that's why. My race tail is a lot harder to get on/off.

I don't know how many miles on the street, I broke mine in on a track. So 2 or 3 laps because it was cold.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-28-2008 08:39 PM

nope, not for pass. pegs. You have that long tail. Mine is real short. Mine is a pain in the ass to put on because of the 03-06 taillight mod I did.

idk. you have to wiggle and wiggle the shit out of mine, to near breaking point, to get it off. fortunatly i only have to pull it up and back about 5 inches just to put the pegs on.

So is tapoco East from the gap? How far?

I also need to stop by Oak Ridge on my way back through TN after Jennings...

Yeah yeah, i always get that one confused, I always think theres an "m" and theres not...*sigh*

So heres a technical question for you guys...

Should I go see wheeler and get my bike tuned and suspension when I get there Wednesday? Or wait? I need to get it done and I have been holding out since what he does for $100 will cost me about $400 down here...

pickle.of.doom 05-29-2008 01:42 PM

By tuned, you mean just the suspension or do you mean getting the bike Dyno tuned?

I can't remember if Wheeler has a dyno or not, but if you mean dyno tuning you would probably want that done closer to home, the different air pressure, altitude, conditions and temp at Wheelers is going to be different than in FL.

Do it wednesday, I don't want to be waiting around wheelers for you this time. I am with PoD, dyno tuning here may not give you the best results at home.

PoD, he has a dyno.

Yeah he's got a dyno, and I may have him run it for me, but primarily I want him to take a look at an issue I have been having and readjust the suspension. I was thrilled with what he did last year and since this year I am running considerably lighter, I want to see what else he can do. Methinks the issue is just the butterfly valve in the exhaust per some convos with buddies, but Wheeler mentioned he can hook it up and do some other stuff for me.

I dont care to see what she dynoes at, its bone stock, I just want to get the small issues resolved that he can see on the computer...and I know he can do that for a fraction of what I will pay here, plus he wont have my bike for a long period of time...

dReWpY 05-29-2008 01:54 PM

the suspension is well worthe the money

Trip 05-29-2008 01:57 PM

$25 for setup, yeah he is worth it. Plus Ken is jawesome.

dReWpY 05-29-2008 02:00 PM

i was going down killme highway, thought i was on a different bike, so much smoother, even going in a straight line, was crazy, cant imagine getting new springs put in this winter what it will feel like

pickle.of.doom 05-29-2008 02:25 PM

Yeah, stiffer springs is one of the first thing I always do on a bike. I am not a 150 lb'er like most of the japanese bikes are set up for from the factory :)

No shit.. I had to change the preload on the rear shock from 4 to a 6 and the rebound from a 2 to a 3.

the chi 05-29-2008 02:39 PM

I haven't been to the gym as much as I would like the past few months so I've dropped to around 167.

I'm more like 168 right now because I haven't been to the gym as much regularly. If I completely stop working out and everything for 6 months or so, I bet my weight would drop to like 150.

OK.

I'm heading out for the track in NH and may not post before I head out for TN...

When are you getting here??? Call Tapoco and see if they will come get us to answer the phone, we want to include you on the ride if you are here early info. If not, we are going to be back around 5:30pm tomorrow for the cookout.
