I think all the sportbikes from the big four Japanese companies come with cast wheels. Even the standard 1198 Ducati has cast wheels. They are cheaper to make. Manufacturers have developed new casting techniques (controlled fill from, I believe, Yamaha being one) that allow more complex shapes and a similar "thin" look to forged, but they are still cast parts. Forged is much less common (think 1198S) although Aprilia now puts them on just about everything. Forged wheels do typically get CNC'd after forging to give them their final shape and finish but it is nothing like the amount of work done to create billet wheels. |
