You are correct. See an 800cc starter bike is OK for Ed because he is amazing in every way, but all us mere mortals must not go over 250ccs EVER or we will all be killed instantly. ;)

Tmall 09-13-2009 07:42 AM

Nice wheels. If j weren't so broke, I'd be looking at getting one myself.

nhgunnut 09-13-2009 10:12 AM

Well congrats Ed you are going to love that 2nd gen bike

karl_1052 09-13-2009 04:18 PM

How come mine doesn't look that small?

redflip

Homeslice 09-13-2009 04:22 PM

First things first, get rid of that piece holding the license plate. In the last pic it looks like the bike is taking a dump.

Just go to Home Depot and get some L brackets.

He can just use the brackets from the rear reflectors, if they came with the bike.

Particle Man 09-13-2009 09:44 PM

schweet new ride. congrats man

RACER X 09-14-2009 06:54 AM

good stuff

got home about 5:45 local time

1381mi in 2 days
17 hrs in the saddle the fist day cuz of getting lost
riding in the rain for hours sucks
can't feel my right thumb
bike is AWESOME
got lost in East TENN, but it was great riding
40N into tenn is crazy 3 lane frwy, winding thru the mt. and people going 60-70mph thru these huge sweepers...........WOW
tail of the dragon was cool
but the skyway was bettter IMO

some pic

leaving out

sun morn.

gas stop and who knows where.......lol

40-45mpg, but w/ only a ~4 gal tank, stopped alot.

http://i26.tinypic.com/ing614.jpg

Trip 09-14-2009 08:12 AM

Yeah, your bike is more suited to the Skyway. The little 600s and motards like the gap better.

RACER X 09-14-2009 08:17 AM

i think motard would be the only way togo on the dargon

and to add, only riding i've been doing lately is straight line commuting, so the dragon was a lil intimidating to say the least. let alone add in elevation changes which we don't have down here lol

CasterTroy 09-14-2009 09:01 AM

Glad you made it home safe and sound!

Thanks for the updates...after the week I've had, I sweat when I hadn't heard from you.

But like I said...had I NOT had that week I would have lead you thru the gap, then headed home afterwards. But glad you made it thru depite the hiccup.

RACER X 09-14-2009 09:12 AM

yeah, i updated you as much as i could........lol

though getting lost was kinda fun, it did add about 3-4hrs to my first day lol

another epic road trip for me

the chi 09-14-2009 09:16 AM

Ick, that rains looks like it made for a crappy run. Hope ya had rain gear, and congrats!

congrats.

yeah, dunno if i'd do it again in 2 days........lol

3 would been nice.

the chi 09-14-2009 09:33 AM

 I HATE being wet, its never too much hassle for me to carry rain gear. Then again, I overpack for EVERY contingency...just ask Ebbs!

RACER X 09-14-2009 09:35 AM

troy kept wanting me to take his bigger tank bag..........lol

i ended up stuffing 2 shirts in the tail storage area, gave me alot more room in the tank bag.....lol

HurricaneHeather 09-14-2009 09:46 AM

Yay for new bikes!!

Congrats Ed....apparently you should have hired a young white guy to stand in for you in these pics so you can further confuse everyone that has never met you.

But NNNNOOOOOO you had to pass :lala:

:lol

yeah but that trip up 40 was nice.....i prolly prefered that over the dragon....but i like the skyway as much........

dragon was un-nerving for a flat lander like me.......plus i had a motard passing, coming at me, in my lane......he was taking the inside line passing some bikes.

i got passed by sportbikes on the skyway, but no cruisers........lol

Trip 09-14-2009 11:39 AM

Should of given you my number and I would of came up to the gap to meet up.

What route did you take from Castertroy's house to the Gap?

RACER X 09-14-2009 11:52 AM

so what you're saying is you rode right in line with the cruisers and the sportbikes were flying by you?

:lol just kidding but it was right there for the taking. LOL

RACER X 09-14-2009 12:57 PM

i got no shame, i'm a flatlander and commuter.

those corners and stuff were crazy TO ME. if i lived there and rode everyday like that, no biggie

let alone the 900mi i had to ride home to.

Troy, that hump piece we put on, buy sat afternoon, w/ the heat it laid down perfectly.......smooth as glass, couldn't even tell it was there.

sun that piece is gone.........lol

dunno what happened, i'm thinking may have gotten water adn came off........

they are sending me another one.

wildchild 09-14-2009 01:02 PM

just giving crap. I'm sure if I went down there now I'd look like a complete tard going through the hills. (although I did make a nice little spark show the other morning with my foot peg)

haven't been down that way in a few years on a bike now. it's time to get back I know that. Wisconsin has very little in the way of good roads to ride.

karl_1052 09-14-2009 01:11 PM

Is it as fast as the VFR?:?:

RACER X 09-14-2009 01:22 PM

Just FYI.....while the gap has more back to back... but the roads 20 miles north of me are just like that...hence WHY I have the motard

Theres a lot of roads around the gap that are the same way. The gap just has an interesting feel to it and the road is well maintained. If you didn't have the crowd there, only having parson's branch as the only road entering makes for a nice setting. Thats one reason I hate 421, too many side roads.
