Got a new Buell today.

Well, the check comes Friday, so technically I'll have it Friday.

It's a Buell XB12XP. Which is basically the bike below, in white, with more suspension travel.

http://thekneeslider.com/images/08xb12xt.jpg

I got to take it for a test ride, which helped my decision immensely. This bike is nimble and fun to ride with plenty of usable power. The other bikes are staying in the stable, so this will be a fun new addition.

tommymac 10-14-2009 05:19 PM

That supposed to be a sporttourer?

SteveP 10-14-2009 05:25 PM

To be honest, I don't know what the fuck it is. But I do know it's a blast to ride.

It's gonna be a 2up tourer/daily driver for me.

tommymac 10-14-2009 05:26 PM

looks like it has a nice upright seating position def good for touring/commuting.

Is H-D going to continue to honor Buell warranties after Buell is gone?

I'm not sure what to do about it really. I'm gonna call the salesman and see what he says. I can't imagine they would discount it to heavily.

What do you guys think I should do as far as a counter offer. I'm definetely going to renegotiate. Do you think 1000 dollars off the price and maybe some maintenance would be reasonable?

Just explain it to him just like you said. Tell him up front, that you know Buell is gone. You still want to buy the bike, but they need to work with you some to keep you interested in the deal.

HokieDNA01 10-15-2009 12:30 PM

So is Buell going out of business or just going out on their own?

out of business according to Erik on the buell website.

I wouldn't do anything.....I'd sit and wait for the call. And then say that you need time to reconsider. Let THEM do the offering/begging

I gave the guy a courtesy call this morning after I found out about the news. I told him I was uneasy about the situation and would have to sit down and talk to him about the motorcycle tomorrow. He was completely understanding that this news changes the value of the bike.

I'm halfway expecting him to tell you it is now a "collectors item" and consequently has increased in value.

I might run over to our local dealers to see what's what

Trip 10-17-2009 12:05 PM

They are going dirt cheap everywhere call ur local dealers. 6k is high from what I have seen on other boards. People are getting them at 5k.

HokieDNA01 10-17-2009 01:33 PM

I would check local first.

Amber Lamps 10-17-2009 05:08 PM

I talked to the dealer here and they said they would be happy to tranfer on here for me. The trucks run between dealers so it's no big deal to move them around.

Rangerscott 10-17-2009 05:23 PM

I just sat on a used one an hour ago. They are mucho tallo. I'm 5'9" and with bike on its side stand, my right foot was about half a foot off the ground so I didn't even try to up right the bike.

Nice bike Steve and good job on the renegotiating.

You can't search online for inventory within a given area?

This is what I did with my car... found the closest in WV then NC. I knew when going to the dealer pretty much where it would come from.

Most moto dealers only show pics of their used stock. They usually dont post pics of new year bikes or "new" old stock ('07,'08,etc)

My local dealer still has them at the reg price... as of today.

Rumored that HD is backing the dealerships and telling them to slash the prices. Like fire sale.

I'll check for you! You can check with FB but as I said, I think that most dealers are willing to dealer trade these bikes to get them off the floor. If I can find one for <$6000, I'll buy one just for shits and giggles. Hell, you could total it and double your money!!!

Yep. I run 3500K low beams (yellow) and 4300-6500K high beams (blueish).

Cuts through darkness like a knife and in the fog, I can run just the yellow and it's like an x-ray through the fog.

Looks like theyre asking close to 9k on the site, I sent him my infor for a quote so we will see. I would hopefully try to find one thats reasonably close to home so I could either ride or trailer it home. TN is a bit far but is still apossibility, ohio is prety much a day trip.

Never been tracked. Motor is seasoned and broken in.

I saw their asking price was high but thought maybe they hadn't gotten around to updating the information either. If there is anything I can do, just let me know. Hales is only 1 hour from me.
Side note: their HD t-shirts are pretty sweet because they generally have the slogan "a room with a view" and a picture as if you are looking from a jail cell to the store. This is because the Mansfield Correctional Center (Shawshank Redemption was filmed here) is across the road.
