I went and did it
I am now the proud owner of a red 1125r. Did a lot of research and trying to sort logistics of potential travel and the best I could do was getting one from markos dealer in PA for 6995. Although there were better deals out there timing and traveling didnt make it worthwhile between the weather, costs and time since I woul dpotentially have to bag a few work days to get the bike, and that would have cost me a lot of money too.
I should be hearing back from the dealer todayto iron out a few more things (seems hardley is kinda particular in how they do things) and will prolly go get it early next week. Tom |
congrats!:rockwoot:
|
Word, brother. Like I said, let me know when you come out to get it.

Nice!

That was going to be one of my next questions is to find a forum with speciffic info.
I got 2 questions off the bat, anyone know where to score a shop manual from, and with the belt drive, how is maintenance/durability of them compared to chains? Tom |

I also had ribs, brisket and a few beers for dinner last night so there will be some stank comming real soon  Tom |

The Warrior was that way too.. the only guys I know that had to replace them either didn't keep an eye on the tension or took off the guards and got a rock in the pulley. |

Congrats bro! $7k isn't bad... I'm surprised that he won't ship it to a dealer by you through Harley's truck system...:idk: I called a dealer back in Michigan and they advised me that they would be MORE than happy to send me a bike to the local Harley dealer!

Mine is due for replacement. They're guaranteed for life and shouldn't cost me any money. There is no adjustment to the tensioning pulley, and mine spins freely when you apply any pressure. I've been told that this is the indication that it's on its way out. This is at around 14,000 of your silly 'merican miles. |
congrats on the new bike
|
The belt is considered "lifetime", but that depends on what lifetime is on a sportbike.
I usually replace mine at around 20,000 miles. For many sport bikes, this IS lifetime. The belts are not much if any more expensive than a good 530 X-Ring chain and you don't have to replace the sprockets. You also don't have to clean, lube, and adjust the belt. I still have one 2009 White and Blue 1125R. |

I was tempted to swing by the Harley dealership and sit on one but last time I was in there the sales guys were horrid. |
Hold your nose, sit on one, and then call me. We'll show you what a Buell dealer is supposed to be like.
We are hoping to be able to get some additional models from a local dealer. |
Congratz. Looking forward to the pics.

Just got back from riding a while and getting an early oil change.
I'm at <250 miles, but I've been exploring the rev range a la Motoman so I figure fresh oil would be a good idea. |

I still haven't dialed the suspension in and it's far from 'broken in', but already the power is there whenever I want it. I did get 'noided' for the first time today. Whacked the throttle in third and -bloop- it cut out. I was so frickin' scared I had broken something, but then I realized... third gear. I foresee a de-noiding in my future. Other than that, it's been nothing but fun. It'll be much more when break-in is done and I can just ride it without having to make a conscious effort to vary RPM and go light on the brakes. |
The cool part is that the EPA BS is easy to defeat and the de-Noid module is only $6.

I'm going to look at one this week, I found one in MD for $5995, I think I'm heading down on friday to talk to them

Can Tommy even fit on one of these things?!:tremble:
It's gonna look like a little Ninja 250 in between Tommy's legs. |

Buell was one of the "best deals in motorcycles" even close to MSRP.
The current pricing is just stupid good. PLEASE don't miss buying a fantastic machine at way below it's real value. |

hey Tommy, i was actually gonna stop by the one in Bellmore also this weekend (forget about it now) they also gave me the wrong vibes earlier this year when i went in to look @ an XB. must be a Buell thing. i'm more interested in an XB12r instead. did you happen to notice if any of our local HD dealers have any while you were looking for yours? i might have to get in touch with Marko & Gas's people for some info. oh, and a big CONGRATS brutha. i def gotto stop by yur place just to check this machine out. |

Those bitches will be delivering my bike to me... Gas' guy is willing to ship through the Harley network if I'm not mistaken and the dealer back home is checking into it right now. I may be looking at about $6500 otd-shipped! We'll see...:rockwoot: |

The 1125R feels like what I wished my TL1000R could have. Maybe it could have, but I didn't have the money or know-how to get it there. It takes little or no effort to toss it around, it balances easily when stopped, and feels like it weighs half of what it does. (and I can't really 'compare' the two because it would be bad form) ;) And the 'noid is an EPA noise reducing component that cuts your throttle response when you crank the throttle more than halfway in 3rd gear. Just about everyone on the Buell forums recommends removing it. After my experience today, I'll have to agree with them. |

I put feelers out to dealers all around and a few did have the xb12's just start locally and work your way out from there and see what you find. Most of the harley websites have a little section to request quotes and they do call back in 1-3 days. Tom |

You beat me to it!!! I'm like aren't you all comparing the Buell to your old bikes? I mean, what's your point of reference for your praise? Oh I get it, it's only "bad form" when it's a negative comparison, when it's praise, it's "good form"!!! |

Seriously, probably not but Buell riders are more of a "cult"/lifestyle type rider, kinda like Harley guys. Facts and figures mean nothing to them. It's all about image and belonging to a group.... |

As far as comparison goes, well I'll never stop believing that bikes should be matched up by purpose and engine size. If you come to the table with a 1000+cc sport bike, I would hope that you and your design team imbibed it with the very best engine that you could for this application. If that is a V-Twin then okay, if it is not then I'm sorry but your machine is inferior for this application! Again, it's like on Pinks where they tell the builders to bring 5 liter cars. One guy brings a Chevy and one brings a Ford, the one with the slower car spends the whole show complaining that his car is slower and deserves special treatment. My question is, why didn't you build a better/faster car? Sportbikes are about speed, handling and brakes in my opinion. Everything else is secondary.:rockwoot: I'll most likely get one and I'm sure that I'll enjoy it for what it is and what I got it for. If it is "better" than my GSXR I swear to you right now that I will admit it publicly on this forum. If not well, I'm sure that you can imagine... |

Or....get over it and buy a different brand bike with similar characteristics...:idk: Quote:
|
Quote:
I think even with in a "class" like I4 liter bikes the differences are prety negligible and most street riders/mere mortals wont notice or appreciate that one laps willow springs a half second faster. Prolly comes down more to feel, comfort and how the bike handles for that rider. Tom |
