R6 Fire

So they really do catch fire. This also shows you two other track details, don't let off the throttle or brake when you lose the rear and don't stop on the track no matter what happens. That second dude that went down might of been able to go around the left side of the wreck had those two dipshits not stopped.

I forgot that I never uploaded this anywhere... but this is the fire from the Wera West Fontana round in 07. This guy got bumped going into turn 1 and his R6 slid all the way back down to the lower part of the oval and caught fire.

NONE_too_SOFT 05-05-2008 11:01 AM

so what we've learned from this thread?

all r6's catch fire when they crash.

i frickin love at about 1:56 when the thing expels some pressure buildup and the one guy runs like a little bitch.

Believe it or not Haga kept it up. The privateer who went down slid off the track in front of him, and Haga basically rode right through the fireball.

Here's a very short very crappy low quality vid: Clicky!

what are those guards made of?

azoomm 05-06-2008 04:02 AM

Um, the Ducati isn't the bike on fire... it's the Kawi in front of it ;)

Edwards did a good job of blowing up a bike: http://www.ceracing.com/news.php3?id=167

I'm pretty sure the bike in front is a 996. Look at the tail.

His Aprilia MotoGP bike decided it sucked so bad that it didn't want to live anymore and took its own life... with him on it.

the pix on this site looks like they held up good but i love their warning.

"WARNING!!! BY REMOVING THIS LABEL AND USING THE TRAXXION DYNAMICS R-6 GAS TANK SLIDER, YOU HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE POSSIBILIY ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY EXISTS THAT YOUR BIKE WILL CRASH, BURST INTO FLAMES, BURN TO THE GROUND, SOAK YOU WITH FUEL, LIGHT YOU ON FIRE, AND BURN YOU UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD. "

Gas Man 05-07-2008 03:55 PM

In the first video... i would have put that fire out in about 30 seconds... jackasses didn't know how to use a damn fire ext. Especially with a wing man and 2nd fire ext. FUCKIN JACKASSES!!!

The warning is funny, it's really just so they don't get sued.

Yeah the sliders hold up well, here's a photo from a pretty nasty crash and they saved the bike:

fuck even with those sliders looks like the tank is toast!

No, the sliders prevented the tank from becoming toast, literally.

Amber Lamps 05-09-2008 06:29 PM

Serious question, does the tank stick out extra far on the R6 or something? My bike has low sided twice and high sided once and the tank was never touched.

Gas Man 05-09-2008 07:53 PM

Tigger.. I think that is exactly the problem.

Hmmmmm...maybe a narrower tank for racing purposes? Don't tell me,they sell one and I'm WAY behind as always.....

yeah but that tank can't be used again... the inside coating that keeps it from rusting i guarantee is cracked and will flake...

but yeah the pucks help save your bike but I'm just saying it's a design flaw from Yami... basically a bad down and your bike is a moltov cocktail... or buy these pucks and you'll still have to get a new tank... :idk:

Gas Man 05-10-2008 04:29 AM

I would have to say.. bad yammi design. It shouldn't do that.

I agree it's a crap design. Although my vote would be tank pucks and new tank rather than campfire and marshmallows in turn 8!

Yes, the tank has little 'wings' sort of... on the top, which are GREAT for getting your leg under and hanging off... but suck for crashing

Yeah the whole tank design is flawed, as well as the little plastic shrouds that tend to have tabs snap. Oh well... the rest of the bike rules.
