2010 HD Forty Eight

Love this new take on the HD Sporty

The HD 48

Here's a video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT_cpT_kxOg

Love the unswung mirrors, drag bars, forward controls and the OH SO COOL big front tire.

Rider 03-01-2010 02:44 PM

Cool bike but is that coming to the US? I like the forward controls and drag bars but I can do without that tank. I've never liked the shape of the sporty tanks the the new sporty lows are ok.

Tmall 03-01-2010 03:58 PM

One of them was blowing smoke at 1:05..

karl_1052 03-01-2010 04:10 PM

I really like the smoke pouring out of the bike at 1:06 and 1:21.

Quality engineering.

Sixxxxer 03-01-2010 04:55 PM

Looked like a rolling burnout kinda smoke...Not engine smoke

Yeah I had to fix the link... somehow got the UK version... all good now. My dealer will have one in about 2 weeks. I bet it sells fast!

DUH! Some of these peeps don't get that....

derf 03-01-2010 05:07 PM

The people in that video could use a shower and a shave, they look kinda dirty

Dave 03-01-2010 05:09 PM

gotta see it in person before i pass judgement

Captain Morgan 03-01-2010 05:21 PM

I don't know, it's still a sporty. Never really been a fan of them for some reason.

goof2 03-01-2010 05:52 PM

I like the look a lot but personally I would need more gas than the peanut tank and less than $10,500. Good for them if they can sell it for that, but they aren't selling me one. The only issue I see for the people they want to sell it to (PBR drinking hipster dicks judging by the ad) is no rear seat for a girl.

Gas Man 03-01-2010 06:00 PM

Its not suppose to have a seat...

But you can add a rear seat and pegs...

As far as price... have you ever rode a new 1200 sporty? Well worth the 10500. What else is offereed in that market for that price?

Not at 1:20 it didn't

Cutty72 03-01-2010 06:41 PM

HD has a chance with me when they bring back Buell.

This bike not for me regardless.

What makes you think they will?

Cutty72 03-01-2010 06:46 PM

Nothing.

Me either.

Best case would be an epic fail of a sporty bike branded HD using some buell designs.

I really don't think they will go sportier than the XR though.

I dont either. It's not their core market. It would be a failure. Sportbike riders don't want to ride a HD. And HD doesn't want to build a sportbike.

Cutty72 03-01-2010 06:53 PM

truth.

I'd give it a fair shake, well would have. But I like the push-rod lump.

I'm not really a cruiser guy, but if I had to do something factory I would probably get a leftover VTX1800 and pocket some coin in the deal. Ideally though I would use that money, plus a little more, and build a prostreet myself.

Yes it did...b/c the guy gets a little sideways before the frame cuts out.

You really think theyd have smoking bikes in a video where they are marketing you to BUY it??

Nah man...Its def burnout smoke

BobTheBiker 03-01-2010 08:33 PM

I want to like it, but I cant get into that fat front tire and 2.1 gal tank. too small a tank for me. I gotta have 5 gallons or so, and provisions for 2 people. AKA superglide.

wildchild 03-03-2010 12:45 PM

I like the bike but I'm weird I actually like sporties.

can't wait to see one in person. probably getting the g/f a sporty this year but she wants an 883 low.

Digifox 03-03-2010 01:09 PM
