This morning's ride with pics

Went out for a ride this morning but had to take a break because of passing showers. Here are some pics.
The time I left the house.

Stopped for gas.

I was planning to ride around Cumberland area but passing showers kept me from doing it because I had to be back before noon. Went to West VA instead.

Polished the whole bike with Pledge as soon as I got home.

Total miles ridden.

She now has over 63,000 miles on her. I did 480 miles last Sunday morning but I didn't have the camera with me. My son borrowed it to go to DC with a friend so... no pics. Sorry.
Taken right after the ride. I forgot to wipe off the chain prior to taking this pic but it's clean now.

During riding season, I get up at 3:30 everyday as long as it's not raining. That's about the only time I can go riding. I just don't have time to ride in the afternoons. Way too busy.

I guess. I never really bothered to smell her.

If you haven't tried polishing your bike with it including the wheels, you should give it a try and tell me what you think.

If I weren't so tired I'd run out to polish mine now. Next time.

I'm trying that Turtle Wax Ice stuff first ;)

But Pledge will be later

TYEster 04-06-2010 10:22 PM

Maybe it's just me and all my dirtbikes...

But seriously, how much front fork travel do you have?! That looks like 2-3" MAX? Common for busa's? Aftermarket front forks? Looks really short to me...

azoomm 04-06-2010 10:32 PM

Nice pics man, really!

Gas Man 04-06-2010 10:42 PM

I work swing shift so no time is crazy for me anymore.

Great pics. 1 thread... I love it! :D

Dammit brother, that bike is CLEAN. 63k on her? Impressive miles and impressive cleanliness. The detail on those wheels is awesome.

ontwo 04-07-2010 10:48 AM

I've been wanting to use the Pledge, but I do think I'll try the Turtle Wax stuff first

He lowered it a bit, details in a different thread, so it's not a stock busa thing.

I first used pledge on my cf pipe on the SV, read somewhere that it was the best to keep it from fading.
I did once polish the whole bike with it, but it made the tank slick as hell!

Thanks again, marko. Keeping her clean for you, bro. Oh yeah, she's now two and a half years old.

WARputer 04-14-2010 07:43 PM

That bike looks way too slick to have 60K + miles.....I'll trade ya my slightly abused 05 with 30K miles. :?:

I've never been a Busa fan either until another member here... nhgunnut turned me loose on his Busa on a couple of different occasions. I took one road trip on it and the other time just riding around some mountain roads in the Vermont/NH area. The Busa is a nice all around bike.

Sure it's a little bigger/heavier than I'd want on a daily basis especially in the twisties but still a good solid riding bike. With the recent brake upgrade he's done...makes it even better.

Oh yeah...it didn't hurt in the fun department that his is turbocharged and at the time was putting down around 250 rwhp. :rockwoot:

Gas Man 04-15-2010 02:45 PM

Yeah I'm sure the 250rwhp really bored up the ride. :lol

The reason I got it is because it's the perfect bike for my riding style and my size. I'm 6' tall and just can't get comfortable on a smaller one. I love long distance riding and the Busa is the perfect cruiser. I just put Corbin seat and Helibars on her and I can ride this thing all day.

sleeper_red 04-28-2010 10:26 PM

She hit 65,000 this morning

After this morning's ride, she went over 65,000 miles. She's now 2 years and 7 months old.
I just wanted to share.

101lifts2 04-28-2010 10:38 PM

I'm not sure why low forks have anything to do with lowering the bike unless the spring rates are hella soft.

That is very clean bike for 65k...but Busas are just too heavy for my tastes and they are hard to split lanes.

Makes sense to me.

marko138 04-29-2010 09:13 AM

Man, thats a ton of miles.

TYEster 04-29-2010 02:22 PM

I'm a fan of those friggin wheels. I'm just looking for the money needed to get some for the motard.

Same here. Forged wheels just looks bad ass. Too bad they don't make them for my bike, not that I could afford them anyway.

I don't know this for sure but CNC'd wheels look cool to me, most of our bikes come with forged wheels...:idk:

Full Throttle 04-29-2010 11:58 PM

This was my route today. I had many stops and a lot of things to do. traveled 152.10 miles according to Mapquest. Ill have to use the trip on my bike next time to get a more accurate exact distance.

I think all the sportbikes from the big four Japanese companies come with cast wheels. Even the standard 1198 Ducati has cast wheels. They are cheaper to make. Manufacturers have developed new casting techniques (controlled fill from, I believe, Yamaha being one) that allow more complex shapes and a similar "thin" look to forged, but they are still cast parts. Forged is much less common (think 1198S) although Aprilia now puts them on just about everything. Forged wheels do typically get CNC'd after forging to give them their final shape and finish but it is nothing like the amount of work done to create billet wheels.
