Mugello GP

Rossi broke his leg.

smileyman 06-05-2010 10:21 AM

Broken and displaced Tib Fib and surgery. He will be out a while. Who gets the factory seat the rest of the season?? Will it be Spies? Who would replace him at Tech Trois?

Sean 06-05-2010 01:11 PM

He hasn't missed a race weekend in the last 230 races (since 1996)!

RE: come back, the eurosport guys were saying Brno (8/15) at the earliest. I'd hope he stays out until at least San Marino (9/5). His championship hopes are finished anyways so there's no reason to rush back.

racedoll 06-05-2010 05:09 PM

Holy crap, that obviously hurt.

you'd be surprised what adrenaline does to the body, doubt he even felt it til they cut his leathers off.

they are saying yamaha can leave the seat open for three races (this one included) but after that they MUST fill the slot. ben hasnt quite matched colin yet BUT he is much younger. theres a great chance yamaha will think about the future and give ben the slot...and access to jerry burgess.

may be the luckiest break in history (no pun intended)

now if we could somehow get vale on the suzuki...

fnfalman 06-06-2010 02:44 AM

Fucking hell. I wanted to see The Doctor crush Jorge this year.

smileyman 06-06-2010 11:59 PM

Yamaha can leave the seat empty but they are embroilded in a maufacturers championship as well. After todays results they may just be handing it to Honda by leaving it unridden.

Spies has fire. Collin has hot air. I know who I would put on it.

Rider 06-07-2010 08:39 AM

Ouch. Fucking highside FTMFL.

Where was this highly advanced traction control system they are supposed to be running?

z06boy 06-07-2010 10:46 AM

Ouch is right. Oh yea...he felt it. Hope he makes it back asap.

I maintain my opinion that the tech 3 bikes are horribly uncompetitive. Toseland has been proof enough of that. Give either of them the factory seat and burgess and they will do well

Switch 06-07-2010 11:28 AM

Man, that was violent.

smileyman 06-07-2010 11:29 AM

Yeah Burgess is that good. But Colin and Spies has said over and over their bikes were just a lil down on power compared to the factory bikes? If Spies had a lil more straightaway he woulda been a solid top five this weekend.

Then there is the whole rookie has to be on a satellite first year rule...

Mr Lefty 06-07-2010 01:04 PM

Damn.. just now got to see the video.. I was hoping for a bit better quality...

but fuck that was violent... reminded me of the old 500cc days

I believe I read that they use an older style head without pneumatic valvesprings?

Never gonna happen but how cool would it be if they got doohan out of retirement?

In related news there's a shitstorm of rumors flying around the wsb xerox ducati team right now. Things could get REEEAL interesting in a couple months. ;)

smileyman 06-07-2010 02:37 PM

Dorna has said that Fiat Yamaha could leave the seat empty for another two races before they had to put someone on it. That said it would sure hurt yamaha in the manufacturers points if they write off one bike for three events, four if who they put on the seat can't adjust quick enough to score...

the chi 06-07-2010 04:12 PM

OUCH!!! Have they said what caused it, it looks like he was fine then BAM, airborne.

Looks like the rear wheel just lost traction.

I was reading a blog where the guy said that its injuries like this that end careers, not because the guy wont be able to ride anymore, but because he wont be able to ride like before

Rossis face says a thousand words

Mick doohan won what? Five consecutive titles after his leg got gimped? Its not nessesarily the end of the world

Rangerscott 06-07-2010 07:51 PM

It's crazy how one second your tires are gripping fine and the next second you're flying through the air......literally.

smileyman 06-07-2010 08:53 PM

I heard that Rossi was slowed, looking for a gap in traffic to get a clean practice lap, circulated for a third of a lap or so off pace, saw an opening and tried to pick up race pace going into the chicane. Tires just not up to temp? Too much throttle off the racing line? Who knows. What is obvious is that he cannot defeat the forces of nature. Mohawk or not, his Kung Fu isnt that strong.
