Where do you guys look for OEM parts?

I need to source a few parts for an '04 XB12S.

Thanks! :dthumb:

www.americansportbike.com is THE best source for Buell stuff. And there are real people there...Al and Joanne who will go to extremes to get you what you need.

shmike 06-28-2010 02:25 PM

Awesome.

Thanks, bro!

What are you looking for?

New levers.

Possibly a carbon chin fairing.

Right on. The CF fairing is gonna run high. I've got one. I think they were or probably still are in the area of 4 bills. I'm also running pazzo shorties.

Might wanna check the classifieds at the most popular Buell boards. www.buelletinboard.com www.badweatherbikers.com and www.buellxb.com

Is this your bike?

It's my Dad's.

I borrow it on occasion and like to return it better than I got it.

I just had it for a week at the Gap and want to dress it up a bit.

I may pass on the fairing but will definitely do levers and maybe a fender elim. I've been bugging him for years to get rid of the cheese grater on the back.

Thats cool, man. Let me know if I can help with anything.

I doubt it.

He's a big fan of the naked version.

That would be pretty impressive if you did.

I'd have done it months ago if I had money for a 2nd bike. The Lightning is at the top of the list.

Why not just convert yours?

I'm thinking about it now. I didn't want to. I'd rather just have it straight up. But I'm thinking now I will start to gather the parts.

Plus I'm sure you'll be able to find guys on BadWeb wanting to swap parts... More guys bought the S wanting the R than the other way around...

The trick for you is going to be handling the electronics in the fairing vs them being in the tail. I know it can be done though... just never researched it.

I wouldn't swap...I'd buy outright. I like to be able to keep it original. I just never wanted to deal with the headache of switching everything out.

Yeah, that's coolio... if it were me, I'd probably just do the fairing and that's it... or at least make that the first step...

For sure. Thats my main problem is leaning to those clip ons. So the front end would be first for sure.

You need to change the top of the triple tree when going from an R to an S. That's pretty much the only thing that and having to relocate the electronics are what keeps me from doing it.

I love the s front with the r tail. It's just more work than I want to invest.

marko138 06-29-2010 07:29 PM

I gotta do it.

SteveP 06-29-2010 08:40 PM

Just get a Uly and be done with it. :rockwoot:

I'm sure it's a great bike, but I can notice the difference in handling between the SS and R. I think the Uly would be even more noticeable? I really wish I could get my hands on an S with the 08 upgrades..

Amber Lamps 06-29-2010 09:06 PM

there's an "S" for sale 2007, 3200 miles for $4500...:idk: I just talked to a guy last week with a XB and he wants to sell his BAD! He wants a V-Rod and the HD dealer won't touch his Buell. He's military and it had maybe 2000 miles on it. I can seriously look into it if anyone is really interested.

I'm not tall enough to ride a Uly. And they don't look as bad ass as a Lightning.

Yes:

Marko... can't you just do as said... change the tripples so you can do bars? Leave the tail the way it is.

Of course...but the Lightning tail is cool. Much better look than a mix/match.
