legal question about riding
Ok so here is the HYPOTHETICAL situation, I was going down one road at 45 mph, and made a right turn onto the other road at 45mph, is that actually illegal since I never broke the speed limit on either road?
|
that depends entirely on what the cop says
|
at a right angle?

The cop just happened to be driving by on a parallel street and pulled in with his lights blaring asked everyone for their papers and after yelling at us for speeding around a corner let us go. |
if you are dragging knee or just hanging off like a mad man, they can go after you for reckless riding. you can fight it in court, but unfortunately there is nothing you can do in public besides making sure you get witnesses.

The cop let us all go, so no harm no foul, but he did say that he could have ticketed us specifically for speeding, which since nobody broke the speed limit doesnt really seem to make sense to me. |

say the speedlimit is 45, but its raining. cop can technically give u a ticket for speeding bcuz he can say u are going too fast for the conditions. so, hypothetically, yea u can get a ticket. reckless driving, unsafe lane change, exhibitionism etc. lots of stuff to blanket u with, if they really wanted to be douchey
|
Illegal lane change. Unless you turned from the right turn lane into the right lane, you changed lanes in an intersection, which is illegal. You'll have to check your state's laws, but most states have a law about changing lanes within so many feet of an intersection. While you were at it, I'm sure you didn't signal the lane changes, nor go the requisite distance between lane changes.
Add to that any "equipment violations" you may have, and you've got quite the ticket stack. Of course, there are also the "reckless driving" and "too fast for conditions" charges that are really based on the individual officer's assessment. |

Speeding is subjective. All said LEO has to say is "too fast for road conditions" and you're speeding. Good luck if that happens, too.

You can also Google Map the road for us so we know what you are exactly talking about. And next time just do a wheelie. |
'Too fast for conditions' or 'Unsafe movement' or 'Careless and Wreckless' but don't see how it could be for "Speeding" if you didn't go over the speed limit. :idk:

It seems that things are different in the "Commonwealth." |

Cop pulls you over.
"What are you an asshole? Do you know how fast you were going around that corner?" Well officer, I am not equipped with a state calibrated speedometer so I can make no comment on my speed, so I must rely on your assessment. "You took that corner too fast!!" What speed was I travelling? Did I exceed the posted speed limit? "No" What is the exact lawful speed that I must travel through this corner? "....(reaches for Taser) you were reckless" Reckless means foolhardy, marked by defiant disregard for danger or consequences. At no point during the turn was I out of control nor was I at any point negligent in observing the conditions to ensure that no one, including myself was in danger. 12 tickets, 5 hours later in the jail cell..... |
Don't taze me, bro...

And I don't see how they could ticket you for speeding since you didn't break any limits and there isn't one on how fast you can or cannot take a corner. If that were the case, I'd be getting pulled over quite often, bike or car. |
