|
I left home early this afternoon with a Fireblade...
Returned with a V-Twin Superbike. No money exchange... even swap. |
Not bad!
rc 51 Buell Xb Tlr My three favourite sounding bikes. And I WILL own an RC in the near future. |

That shits pimp yo!!! My roommate in college had that exact bike and when he would go away for a weekend with his woman I used to take it for a spin:D
enjoy it:dthumb: |
Enjoy it!! I miss Leon's 01 TLR :(
|
howd you work that deal out anyway? any bump in premiums?
|
Quote:
I don't know what you mean by "bump in premiums"... it was a straight swap, no blowjobs involved. |
i was asking if that bikes widowmaker rep makes it more expensive to insure over the blade

when we had the TLR we had it insured with Geico, along with my Gsxr 750, and his Gsxr 1000. It was 600 a year for full coverage for all three.
we dropped the TLR when we sold it a couple months ago, and now I think we are at 400 for the year on the other 2 bikes |

What is the actual value of the cbr vs the tiller? |
stock Tillers are going for 4-4500 down here.
|
Congrats OSP... pretty sick shit!!!! :rockwoot:
|
and another + is it doesn't have anyone's gay ass name painted on it!
definitely a great trade for you... how does the Tiller do with long distance? I'd think it'd be comfortable... at least as much so as the honda or the buell :idk: |
Sweet looking ride! :dthumb:
*Indian voice> Good trade < end Indian voice* :D |
nice OSP, finally got rid of that scary red carbon fiber piece o crap

fuck that... D&D is shit. just obnoxously loud.
sorry but not much beats the sound of a V-Twin... cept maybe a MotoGP bike... IMO. |
congrats OSP.
deep down you weren't really happy with the blade anyway. |
Quote:

I'll refrain from saying anything bad about D&D, but they're w/o a doubt my least favorite pipe brand. I'd rather run stock exhaust!
I love twins, too. I started w/ a SuperHawk, then went to a few I4's, and since then have owned nothing but twins: SV650S RC51 Tuono Monster S2R1000 Super Duke |
D&D can KMA. GP cans FTW. I'm running scorpion cans right now (less than stellar stuff), and my Honda sounds good. IMHO, a good sounding bike is much better than an obnoxiously loud bike that sounds like ass

I can't stand D&D on an I4. But, this bike is running one, and I love the sound of it.

Finally I can reply! :D
First of all, she's purty! LOVE the mighty TLR. Your comments about it so far seem to be pretty spot on to me. Here are my suggestions. Keep an eye on the WERA board for a full titanium system. I don't mean a stainless system with titanium cans. FULL titanium. Header, midpipes, cans, the whole smack. It was a $2,000 system from Yoshi back in the day. Rare if you can find it now, but light as hell. I weighed mine when I got it, and the whole thing was 11 pounds with the cans. The header diameter is a little bit larger too. I'll rip off a sound file of it next week, along with a sound file with the cans off. I kid you not, the thing vibrates the floor and sounds like a NASCAR 350. For the suspension, have the front forks reworked to match your weight, and keep an eye out for a Penske or Ohlins. I put a Penske triple adjustable on mine, but I don't think they make them anymore. Not sure. I have one already. :rockwoot: The next thing you'll want to do is to replace the stock steering damper with an aftermarket unit. I have a Hyperpro on mine. The stock damper is entirely too stiff in my opinion. Next, start looking for a set of light wheels. I put 5 spoke magnesium Marchesinis on mine. They are the way to go. I found them on Ebay for a serious steal. When you do your search, spell it wrong on purpose, try a few different ways. That's how I got mine. I was the only one to bid on them. After you get this far, if you're not dirt poor yet, get a set of steel braided lines. I put Kevlar lines on mine, and they do help. I do want to put a set of Brembo brakes on it. Archren's Brembos stop like yesterday and I want that stopping power on my TLR. That's the *only* mod left that I can justify to the bike. You won't find any *bling* or faux carbon fiber on it. Every single mod is specifically aimed at improving performance. Oh, I almost forgot. I pulled the motor and ported / polished the heads and valves, and bumped the compression a little by leaving off the base gasket between the block and the cylinder. That presented me with a unique problem though. Now, the thing bangs the rev limiter like a raped ape and scared the holy shit out of me the first time it did it, it was so quick. I *really* need another 1500 rpm in revs, so if anybody happens to know where I can get my grubby little hands on a factory race kit Yoshimura computer (adjustable rev limiter) I would be very grateful. The above mods have put my TLR in the 410 lb range dry, and I dare anybody to call that heavy (just had to give my girlfriend a look since she's sitting here and said *It's heavy.* She'll get her's later.) It's also amazingly easy to service. I can change spark plugs in 30 minutes. Valve checks are equally easy. I'll work on those sound files this week. The TLR makes mere mortals tremble, and girls need private moments with themselves. You chose well. |

two things. why not just mill the head and keep the base gasket? i never built a tl engine, but in general i would mill the head, or even get a dif size (thickness) gasket, but never ditch the gasket. and why are there no pics of this tlr u speak of? it sounds badass, i wana see it:drool: |

i know what you mean about feeling slow compared to the I-4 it takes a lil getting used to, but i think the power all over more then makes up for the lack of a huge 185+ top end
|
I am so F'n jealous. I loved the TLRs. I remember racing at TWS the first year they came out and the EMGO Suzuki team was there. Boy those things sounded sweet on the banking! Awesome bike dude! Have fun with her!

Nice ride dude :dthumb:

Suzuki should at least bring back the TLR engine (not the SV1000 water down version) and put it to good use.

As for the base gaskets being left out, I used the gasket sealer material that is used for jetski motors in place of the gaskets. She hasn't complained a bit, and I have over 12k on it since I did the motor work. :D |

Oh boy...welcome to the dark side. Start with...airbox mod, charging system mod, fan switch mod, I went 16 front and 40 rear sprockets...gotta check for sure, 520 conversion, have the suspension set up for you, Yosh full exhaust, smart TRE, pair valve mod, power commander, 98 Dodge Caravan Fuel Pump(trust me...remember this!) and I think you can drain the stock fluid from the steering damper and run 2.5 oil in the stock damper is pretty good. Here are some sites. I went with PM Chicane wheels on mine...trust us...get lighter wheels.

I'll see if I can find the links when I get home. The free mods are Airbox...charging system is cheap, just wires and a fuse...pair valve mod needs some block off plates fabbed...maybe Leon or someone has some or can get some?...fan switch is cheap....and the steering damper is under $20. The sites I listed have everything and parting out a few bikes, take a look around and see what tickles your giblets.
|
And if ya really want to do a quick, cheap mod...drill out the rivets and remove the baffling in your stock cans, you can even cut them down and paint or coat them. I have seen this done with good success and it looks cool with the engine paints on the shelves today.
