Post up your GPS mounts
What are you all doing for mounting your GPS units? I've looked and I just don't see anything yet that I like for mounting mine so I am thinking something custom/home made.
I've got a pretty sweet set up.. I'll take a pic tonight and post it up tomorrow
Sweet. I was beginning to think that no one had 'em. :D I've looked at the ball mounts, and I just don't see anywhere to put something like that. ;)
i recently aquired a tomtom unit and my fist thought was that i could zip strip it to my triple clamp
That's what I have; the TomTom One. I love it for what it is and it sure as hell gets me where I am going. I really found out how usefull it was the first time that I had to go to Atlanta for Hyundai training. Dayyyyyyyuuuuuuummmmmmmm is that place screwy to a hillbilly like me! I made it where I was going with no problems what so ever and never missed an exit. ;)
i got the tom tom one too, havnt bought it yet, but i found very good looking mount from ram mounts that looks very secure
i only did some casual searching last night but i found a vent mount that comes with a detachable clip that ought to work the way i want with some slight modification
Ram Mounts are definitely the way to go with GPS units... I forgot my camera at home.. Will get the pics up tomorrow

I've already lost a nice Garmin GPS/FRS unit last fall due to a failed mount. :( I haven't looked up Ram Mounts yet, but I will Google them right now. In the meantime, this looks promissing to make one from.........

Ok, so if I get this:
http://products.ram-mount.com/rammou...r=RAM-B-309-1U And this: http://products.ram-mount.com/rammou...r=RAM-HOL-TO4U I should be good to go? This is just as cheap as the ebay link but I had no idea that the holder from them would be this secure. I could just get this for the mount and put it on the bars for a MUCH cleaner look. I don't see why it wouldn't work with a u-bolt. ??? http://products.ram-mount.com/rammou...mber=RAM-B-238 |
That would do the trick. Be attentive to where your gps would sit relative to everything though from the bar. You might need one of the extensions to get out of the way of things.
I use 2" (I think) maybe 3", extensions on mine. Puts everything exactly where I want them. |
Yeah, the biggest thing that would help would to be able to have the bike here to take a good long look at and do some measuring. I'll try to work on that this weekend when I put on my tinted sheild. ;)

BEFORE anybody says it, YES, the XM is on Wang Chung, and YES, the max speed reading at the time was 112mph. |
Wheres the radar detector and the auto pilot?
Everybody have fun tonight..............everybody wang chung tonight!! :D Sorry :D
Great shot man. I should have just looked up your pics from AK. You had the same thing on then. ;) I just wonder how well this will work with mine, as it looks like your sheild is at less of an angle than mine is giving you more room to work with. ??? |

And Derf, radar detector is hidden. ;) As for Auto pilot, well, the Throttlemeister has been proven to work well into triple digits. :D |

They never last me more than a week or 2, and the battery is just a matter of me stopping to be lazy
dood you plug it into 110 not 220!
but 220 gives double the power!!!!!
dare i say 440?
I tried, to hook up two 220 volt plugs together, all it did was make me pee my pants when I licked the wires
ahh a shame. when we lived at the oil refinery in al daura the power would spike from 220 to 440 without any warning. extra exciting
OK guys, I was gonna be a smart ass and just post up a picture of my 'gps'.... i just use painters tape to tape my planned route onto my tank. And then if i get lost I just use google maps on my cell phone to figure out where i need to go... I've been too busy to tape up the tank and take pics
I just ordered the ram mount for my tom tom
