That's part of the reason I got a bike.. well.. besides just wanting one. I could either get a pos car (we're talking bare minimum 100,000 miles and work needed) that would make daily commute to and from class doable, or I could get a barely used bike (in this case 6,000 miles and minor maint.) for the same price that would make interstate travel more than doable.
It was a fairly easy decision, and I saved big time.
