I have actually considered giving up control riding because it takes me 1/2 a day of race practice just to get back on pace.
I may bring a 2nd bike to the trackdays as a strictly Novice/Intermediate control bike.

Funny, the beginner / intermediate control riders just bomb around in B and C at fast A group pace. I bet they don't have issues getting back up to race pace. I've had them almost take me out a couple of times and exchanged words.
