Good riddance to my cable company
Our small town only has one cable company. We have granted other franchises, but no one has set up shop to compete yet.
Ok, so a couple of years ago I got phone, TV, and internet through (at the time) Time Warner. Things were ok. No big deal. This year Windjammer bought this office and proceeded to royally fuck up the works. First, I start getting calls from some elderly citizens hoping that I could do something about the cable company since I was on the city council. Here is what the bastards did to these little old ladies. Time Warner had a basic package that was $19.95 for local channels, Hallmark, TBS, USA. Just your basics. It was perfect for people on fixed incomes. The channels were 1-29. Well, Windjammer came in and rearranged the channels. First they took off some of the local channels completely. Second, they moved things like Hallmark to higher channels to force people to upgrade their packages. Well, guess what, the elderly can't afford to up their package. Most recently, I noticed my internet was slower. Come to find out, when they went from TW to WJ, they reduced the speed package for the same price. Then, today, I got a bill that was 42% higher. No warning, no explanation, no nothing. So fuck you Windjammer. Today I signed up for AT&T phone, internet, and DirecTV. This is what happens when there is no competition. Rant over. |
