So...
I thought getting a cortisone shot is supposed to make the pain go away? I must be that broken to where nothing works on me

Cortisone doesn't take away pain.. it only reduces inflammation.. which can alleviate some pain, but no, it's not designed as a pain killer.

they gave me cortisone shots into my knee last year. it was great for the inflammation. The pain got beat down with vicodin es and percs
