Online auction shenanigans
I was surfing youtube and BidsTick was one of the "promo" vids. Went to their site, then googled them. I've always wondered about these "cheap" winning auctions.
Here's a link that shows how they aren't losing any money, but making way more than retail. http://cotradeco.com/posts/1780-swoo...ion-a-big-sham Here's a vid of an "actual" winner. Ya, she makes it seem legit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjWC-XtCic8 |

I tried it a while back, I did better than some others and called it quits early, lost 2 bids and won on the third, after that I just kinda gave up because I realised my chances of winning anything else were pretty out there

This, like lotteries, are nothing more than a tax on people who are bad at math.

That was my thought too. If you can spend lots of time to see the max bids on something you want there are deals to be had, along with a ton of luck. Really the only way to make out is to bid only when you reached the max amount people would be willing to bid.
