Default eMachines eMD525-2925 Laptop

Anyone know anything about these? They are selling at Best Buy for $280. I was thinking about buying one for each of my kids (12 and 9). Internet, email, flash games, and maybe a few words docs for school is all they will be used for. I heard eMachines break often. I'm also not sure about the processor, but the 2G of ram seem ok.

Buddy of mine had a desktop by emachine - he had nothing but troubles, the thing always locked up, hardware went bad. After fighting with them over warranty he finally gave up and bought a new machine.

eMachines = garbage.

Spend your money on other things. Seriously, they are terrible.

eMachine = the suck. There is a reason they are cheap, you get what you pay for.

eMachines are awesome man, especially the laptops. Probably the most advanced and reliable piece of computer equipment you can purchase. NASA and most Air Traffic Controllers use them on a daily basis without problem.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. If it was up to me I'd skip buying them a laptop but the wife is insisting on buying them one but of course we don't want to spend $600-$800 for each of them.

Thanks for the input, I'll pass on this deal. I keep recommending we just replace their old desktop but she wants them to have their own and not have to share. I'm putting my foot down.

I'd rather have the Atom 1.6Ghz (that has hyperthreading) than a celeron 900 cpu.
