She did a brief appearance in "Euro Trip" as the lead's slutty ex and was a star in a Canadian series called "Edgemont", oddly enough along with Grace Park who most recently has starred as a Cylon in Battlestar Galactica. Yes, both Canadian girls. Edgemont was sort of a 90210 style high school show.

Box office appeal doesn't seem to be the defining factor in as many movies these days. We're seeing more complete unknowns cast in major roles, in movies that do pretty damned well. We may see even more of that given that studios are losing money to video rentals and sales, internet downloading, and the like. Casting no-names who have the right look and (hopefully) talent looks more and more attractive.

I'll agree with the Resident Evils.

I felt the Fifth Element was centered on Bruce Willis' character.

In contrast to the Resident Evils, you have Catwoman, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, Bloodrayne, Elektra, Dead or Alive, Aeon Flux, The Quick and the Dead, Point of No Return, etc.

Though in deference to Tomb Raider and, unfortunately, Charlie's Angels, maybe I should have made the standard "nominally worth watching."

Out of those, at least Bloodrayne had tits in it. The Quick and the Dead was a rip-off of a classic Louis Lamour novel title, but without the story. Fuckers.

It wouldn't take much to list a host of action films that tanked with male leads, would it? They're much more prevalent, so there are that many more failures and more all the time. How well is that "blockbuster" The Spirit doing?

It's easier to notice the failures with female leads, because there aren't as many of them.

USA/SciFi has to be the main employer of Canadian actors these days.
You see the same actors trading off roles in BSG, Stargate, Burn Notice, etc.
