I quit about a month ago using the e-cig. It doesn't do much for the physical side effects of quitting, but for me it takes over the mental part. A regular cigarette is much more satisfying when I am drinking, but I smoke about 1/5 as much now.

My parents are trying to quit. They stopped for like um.. a week? Maybe 2? Before I saw them with a pack. It's gone now though.. I can't figure out if they caved in or are trying to quit a little bit at a time. Anyways, those things stink and I end up smoking by association. gtfo

Put the smokes down and back away. I quit cold turkey 18 years ago and it was pretty simple. My wife told me when i first met her she wouldn't go out with me unless I quit smoking. So I stopped on the spot and never touched a cigarette again. Of course back then she had ways of keeping my mind off of smokes. 8-9 times a day every day keeps you from smoking. Now it's like 8-9 times a year.

Yeh so i got the chantix today. i take the first pill tommorrow. the instructions say smoke for the first week then on day 8 stop so I'm following that. Plus I have 8 packs left from the carton I bought on sunday so it works out. I'm gonna start a new thread about it tommorrow to chronicle my quitting attempt.

My Dad used it and had horribly vivid and vulgar nightmares, even when taking short naps. I remember him telling me about one in which the dog and cat were having a very graphic conversation about murder and were asking my Dad what he thought. He said it was so real that it blew his mind. When he woke up he couldn't figure out if he was dreaming or what.
This was during a 45min nap on the couch. I mean, I'm an admitted stoner and all.....but I wouldn't touch a drug that fucks with your brain that much.

Haven't tried Chantix, but the Patch induced nightmares were the worst I have ever had.
First time I actually killed somebody in my sleep. Not JC
