Default Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Anybody see it?

Fucking awesome... minor amounts of cheese... wish there was more blood... CGI was the best I've ever seen... story was pretty good, subtle tie-ins to the original, and you really REALLY ended up rooting for the fucking monkeys... The main chimp was so well done, you really felt for him as a character... Can't say as I've had that much emotional buy-in at the movies in a really, really long time.

Watch it... or end up like this lady:

Yeah I liked it. The way they animated Caesars facial expressions really made him a believable character.

I saw something the other day on that; the same guy that acted out Golum's character in the LOTR movies provided the character acting for Caesar in the ROTPOTA movie. They had all sorts of shit on his face when they recorded his performances and fed that into the CGI system.

Yeah, they had him on Fresh Air the other day. I guess in LoTR they had him stand in for Gollum on the set during filming and replaced him with an animated model that tried to mimic his movements but in this movie they motion captured everything live.

Same guy did King Kong, via motion capture.
