Their theory is that people cannot truly learn and succeed at their job/task with 6 month deployments, so 9 months is a good time for keeping families happy, and getting the most efficient work out of the soldiers. Now if the Army would actually use it's troops in the jobs that they have been trained for, it wouldn't be an issue. But me as a mechanic, I have not actually touched a vehicle for anything more than transportation and a quick trouble shooting in over 3 years... Guessing you AF guys actually do your line of work, where as besides infantry, it seems all the Army jobs are being turned over to contractors. I'm tellin ya, the thought of switching to AF has crossed my mind, now even more since I have my 6's already. |
