We both keep in check what we buy by using our own funds, but I take on more than my share of the bills considering I have a bigger salary and she doesn't live in the house yet. It will probably all change once we start having kids though. For now, it works for us. We will have to adapt once it becomes necessary.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same way. when comonboys and I get married, we'll have one joint checking account that we will put money into to cover all the bills. Whatever money we have in our seperate accounts is ours to spend as we wish. Seems fair enough as long as all the bills are paid first and on time, and some money put away from both parties for home repair/vacations/projects etc.
