What a day..
My gf calls me up at work today, "The big tree in the backyard was blown over onto the shed.." I keep my bike in that shed, so I hurry home and luckily it missed the shed and only crushed my fence.
So, I'm in the house all pissed off about the tree when I hear "drip drip drip..", I look over and water is coming out of one of my walls. I track down the leak, it's shingles missing on my roof. I have to basically tear out a wall upstairs because it's water damaged and throw buckets down to catch the leaks. I have no idea how to repair a roof and I had to call 6 people before one would understand the severity of my situation. And even then, he's only coming tomorrow morning. So, until then I'm stuck emptying buckets of water to minimize damage. Good times! |

The joy of homeownership, huh?
Glad to hear the bike was spared. Good luck with the roof. I hate to say it but leaks aren't usually from missing shingles. Hopefully it is minor.

$250 just for him to show up. It looks as though I'll just be replacing a few sheets of drywall on the inside, so that's a plus at least.

Yep that sux for sure but of course it could have been a lot worse as you know.
We have several big trees in the backyard and with all of the rain and at least "some" snow that we've had the ground is soggy and we've had high winds the last day or so and I always cringe that one of those huge suckers aren't going to come tumbling down. |

Have you checked with your homeowner's insurance policy? If the roofer screws you enough, you could get a new roof from it with your insurance footing the bill especially if it's from weather damage and not due to your lack of maintenance on the house.

Might be worth a call to your insurance company man. I fear leaks and shit everytime it rains
