Yes. And an ostrich.
Never again will I ride an ostrich without some "liquid encouragement". Giant birds are evil - or I am just being a vag about it.

I grew up with the damn things taking care of them, riding them walking them currying them... The best I can say about Horses is the tase far better than they look to me!

Yes. I've owned horses for most of my life.

We just sold our last horse about 3 years ago now. In a few years we'll look to get two more. The kids have to get a little bit older first. Horses and young kids are a lot to take care of at the same time. I already take care of 60 cows.

I have ridden horses twice on a guided tour as an adult. I also rode the mules in Molokai, that was an experience.

I grew up riding and showing Saddleseat. After I sold my horse I taught lessons so I could keep riding for free.

Kelly I would LOVE to lease a horse but I get way too attached. Part of the reason I bought my VFR was because I really wanted a horse. Tooo much time and money involved! Now I actually have enough land to have 1 but then you have to have a barn, and hay, and tack, and and and.. you know the deal!

I know exactly what you mean. I've never leased and I know I would get attached....but at least I'd be able to ride without the time/tack/money commitment. I don't want to take random lessons. I just want a horse I can take out a couple of times a week for trails or just to ride.

I rode one once on a tour of the grand canyon. Since I never ridden before, they put me on Barney, an old gentle horse. He was fun, but I kept forgetting to tell him to stop eating foliage because I was too busy enjoying the scenery. At one point the guide was trying to get our picture so I was trying to back Barney up but then I forgot to ease off the tension of the reins and I caught it in time before he back us up over the ledge

I dont get the love of being on the back of a wild animal, 10 times as big, 10 times as strong as an average man, that could decide to beat you like a redheaded stepchild anytimne it chooses.

Gimme a bike anyday. At least my mistakes are usually my own.
