Electricity is over-rated, we've lived as a species for a long, long time without it. A well thought out ration of food, a private natural garden, and a rainwater collection system (climate permitting) should be enough.

That said, I'd love to get all fancy with the shit, but simple = survival.
For this dude, electricity is essential or he is fucked. He ain't moving those boulders by hand, that's for sure. Hope he has a good hydraulic system and knows how to maintain the fucker.

Being able to produce electricity also means you can maintain a hydroponic garden. No need to worry of zombies messing with your food supply.

You know zombies aren't real, right?

Actually, some of their other designs are better. Like underground homes, etc.

There is one in the neighborhood next to us. All you can see is a small peak with skylight windows and solar panels. Not quite zombie proof, but eh....

I'm sure mother nature could whip up some virus or researchers could create some bio-weapon that turns humans into crazed ravaging animals that act just like zombies - isn't that reason enough to have this discussion?

Soooo, what about the pool area when the place buttons up?

It's awesome, but I agree with Trip, apocolypse, end of the world, etc you aren't going to have electricity for long, or fuel for generators, etc, there would need to be a manual set up for getting that place closed up ASAP. As far as gardens, and rain collection, some type of rooftop system that could be completely secured, say a cage or something on top might work, and judicious use of solar energy would be a plus to avoid the need for electricity and generators.

1) In the event of a Zombie apololypse, I'm going to shut the doors and not open them... most likely before complete infrastructure failure.

2) Hydroponic? Why? Earth roofing... grow your crops on the roof.

1) What if you get no warning of the attack before you shut your doors? What if one of the doors fails at the start of the zombie attack? This is why you can't be a proper Zombie proofing engineer.

2) Two words: Zombie Motherfuckin' Birds

I thought you were a Zombie expert, pfft...
