Friend of mine had a burm between 7-9 foot about as big around as a baseball. You could not reach into the tank or you would be bit. But if you let it clime out of the tank onto your hand it was fine after that. But some times when you put it back in the tank it would strike even after hours of handling out of the tank with out a problem.

I have only had kings myself they don't hurt so bad when they bite. I had a great colored coral mimick and a all black. The black one got large for a king. The coral mimick could excape from any cage. The pet store gave it to me when I bought the black one cause they could not keep it locked up. They lost it several times. I tried everything to keep it locked up and finally lost it and never found it again. I had it for 4 years and it would let itself out about 3 times a year, strange snake would only eat in the dark.

The Black one in contrast would always eat and eat all you gave it had that one for about 10 years. I came home one day and it was rolled over dead in the tank. He was pretty cool and would try to rattle his tail (had no rattle) when you came near the tank. The noise of his tail hitting stuff in his cage stoped a few people in there tracks a few times.
