Yes, but does that matter? There's lots of reasons to have/not have a smart phone. My employer doesn't tell me I have to have one - I choose to.

If it helps with your job then its something to have, a few yrs back I would have consiudered one since I didnt have internet access. I had a palm pilot to look up some medical info if needed but that was it. Now I have computers everywhere at both jobs so I dont realy need to have one. So a regular phone works well for me.

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I use my phone for everything except calls. I hate phone calls with a passion. I don't even have a land line at home.
To me, a phone call is nothing but an interruption. If my phone rings, the person on the other end had better be fucking dying, or I don't want to hear what they have to say. When my phone rings, I'm almost always in the middle of something else. Stopping what I'm doing to answer their stupid phone call just pisses me off. Email and texts, I can read at my leisure, when it's convenient for me. |

I have a samsung intensity 2.
It's a really shitty phone but: It was free It had a keyboard for the 2 times a month I send a text. It was the only phone available from Verizon that had a keyboard and DID NOT force you to get data plan simply because it had a keyboard. It advertised itself as having a night vision mode which sucks because it doesn't see through clothes in broad daylight....which is the only reason I got this stupid phone.... that and the free and the keyboard and the no data plan. |
