Bought a Honda Fit

So to make a long story short, I bought a Honda Fit tonight. I traded in a 2000 ford focus (I'm the only owner) with 130k, a broken back door that didnt open, failed emmissions test, and other minor things wrong with it. I was trying to sell it for 2400, expecting $2k before it failed the emissions test today. Went to the dealership and they gave me $1600 for the trade (i saw that, took it and ran with it). $0 down, and $274/m for 63 months with the extra 100k mile warranty.

I think I made out decently. I dunno, I think I still got screwed. I'm just happy that they took my focus for $1600, that was amazing, I was all pissed when it failed emmisions, I went into the car and scraped off the rejected sticker and drove down to the dealership right away, gave them a BS storay about another dealership offering me 1500 for the trade in, and they beat the trade in price, and they beat the BS for sale price I gave them.

Carolina's best friend bought one not too long ago and she loves it.

I haven't ridden in it, but just checking it out and sitting in it, seems like a pretty good car.

Certainly better than a hack Focus. LOL

honda is 100% better than fords piece of shit cars. I wish they'd stick to trucks and vans, the vehicles they know how the hell to build RIGHT.

I did pretty much all the driving when we were out in West Texas. Hers isn't the Sport model, but it did ok in the mountains and distance driving as well.
I just wish she had sprung for cruise control. Those long stretches on the highway were brutal without it.
Seems to be a pretty good car for just a commuter and runabout.

Hey that's one of the cars I'm looking at getting. Pros and cons would be helpful. I have 3 cars I'm down to. Hondas are pretty reliable and get great gas milage.

So far the biggest con is the base model comes without cruise or keyless entry. But looking through a fit forum I found that you can buy a blank key fob for $20 and program it yourself, the car has all the internals and wiring for the keyless entry but they dont sell you the keless entry unless you buy a sport model or pay $2-5oo for the "keyless entry kit". This is for a CRV, but works with the fit.

I will give a write up in a few days/weeks. The car has 17 miles on it now, so i put 9 coming home from the dealer, and it is sitting in my driveway covered in 6" of snow.

Pros:

-Mileage was really good (don't ask me for numbers, I didn't keep track)
-Handles decently in base form (haven't driven a Sport, can't speak for those)

I rode in/drove one down to New Orleans a few weeks ago.

My impressions:
- a bit on the noisy side, but livable considering what it is
- not great acceleration, but with the manual trans & considering the fuel mileage (about 40mpg highway, 35 city) it's acceptable & not dog-ass slow if you wind it up

- good spacious interior (great for a car that size) with a useable back seat & good cargo capacity (esp. with seats folded down

- wouldn't be my first pick, but would definitely be a contender if I needed to do a good bit of commuting

- I'll stick w/ my long-paid-for 25/30mpg 230k-mile daily-driver Integra until the wheels fall off (at 3~400k or so

) Car note? - no thank you!

At least you are the right size to drive it. Some friends of ours have a Honda Fit - it's for the wife to drive for work, since she puts alot of miles on her vehicles. Her husband is 6'something, and 300+ lbs. When he is riding in the Fit, the whole car leans to his side.

I wish we had a picture of it.
