I owe $400 on a credit card and just last week finished paying off a $2000 loan. I pay for my schooling with cash (about $3000 a year with books) so I'm trying to stay as debt free as possible. All vehicles are paid off!
My girlfriend who is graduating is also debt free which is great. Has a paid for car (Toyota so it'll last forever) and her grandpa set them up a college fund years ago so college was paid for. We both plan to drive our vehicles until the wheels fall off, then replace the wheels and drive those until they fall off. We hope that the only major debt we get is a house note or if we start a business. But both of those HOPEFULLY build wealth.

I am really impressed with the number of members who seem to have pretty good money sense and aren't stupid in debt. Way to go!

Besides, some of them are probably bullshitting! The only reason that I'm debt free is that I sold my house and used the "profit" to pay off my cc's. I crashed my bike and bought back the total. Then I finished my truck lease and bought a beater. Ta da no debt! As anyone here will tell you, I'm no genius!!! |

My only debt is slightly over 3k on a cc. I was extremely lucky to have my college education paid for (thought I'm applying to grad school for next fall, so that number will definitely change...no clue how I'll pay for it yet. I've decided to see if I get in first then figure it out lol). And I was lucky that my mom and ex-step dad split up right before I sold the car he bought me and used the money to buy a different one cash. Also, since I just graduated and have been officially on my own for the first time, I've become sick from looking at my cc bill and have decided I'm getting rid of it ASAP and hopefully never using it again lol.
Phil, however, not so lucky. I can't even remember the number, but between what he owes on the bike, student loans, and medical bills, he'll be paying for a while. Which is why if we get married anytime soon, there will be a pre-nup ) lol. So that debt doesn't become half mine if something happens. |
