Yeah, not sure what they have planned for him to fly, but I know he is going to be flying something.

Truth. They also don't pay for contacts. They pay for the checkup and glasses, but that be all for vision.
Cover everything for medical and dental though my guess would be chopper or prop planes (ie C130) |

Wouldn't contacts or lasik be a better long term investment for them? Glasses, I would think, could get in the way.

In Conus, contacts or lasik (if taken care of properly) is probably a better deal. In country, they prefer glasses as they can be quickly removed when the gas mask is needed. Depending on the agent used, contacts can melt to your eyes, and lasik makes your eyes far more sensitive. That's what I get from their reasoning anyway. |

that and if you have a perscription, there are inserts put into your mask.
If you have contacts in and put on your mask with the inserts, you are more blind than you started! |

My next question was what happens when you take those glasses off and can't see shit.

I wear my contacts every exercise.... the old masks never had a problem... the new ones have 100x the air flow over the eyes... so my contacts dry out... but as long as I blink frequently I'm good... |
