The window is far from narrow, as the bike revs slower than a short stroke 4. The only problem I have with the power band is that it doesn't drop anywhere, so I find myself hitting the limiter from time to time, since it just pulls hard all the way to it..

It is not a flat spot, it's a trench. I could easily feel it before a pipe and remap.

I agree that it doesn't taper off at the end. Very easy to hit the limiter if you aren't paying attention.

That's true of any low reving V-Twin when you are used to power band characteristics of a I-4. I rode a Super Duke and it hit red line in a blink of an eye. I was consistently hitting the rev limiter in every gear.

What I find odd is that you're describing the flat spot basically right where the exhaust valve shifts positions. I could definitely feel the flow path change over, but would never have called it a flat spot.

Now that I have the way too loud pipe on it, no more "stutter" when the valve shifts.

Depending on the bike, the cable could have been loose for the valve, or the muffler could have been dented in a spot that would have compromised the smoothness of the valve movement.

I'm talking about the torque curve of the XB motor.

Here is Sportrider's dyno of the '04 XB12R.

Unless their bike's exhaust was dented in the same place as the Buell I had, I'll assume it was across all the motors of that year. There is a noticeable lull.

Maybe it's been corrected on the newer models, it pretty much went away with the new exhaust.

Neither Ronald McDonald nor the Burger King are fit to lick Checkers BALL SACK!!! For drive thru type food, Checkers is the bomb!!! Not that it matters in the discussion but my Buell is an 1125R, Lil more torque than the Thunderstorm engine makes in the Xb line...

Those torque numbers for the 675 seem VERY low. I have seen them dyno at or above most 600s at 58 ft lbs...

Not that I have any hard numbers, but you're almost right.

The thunderstorm makes 84ft/lb to the 82 or so of the 1125. Both being crank numbers.

The difference being, the xb makes it at 6000. The 1125 at 9000.
