That compilation isn't anywhere near complete. I've heard that stupid scream in plenty of other movies/shows, commercials, even video games.

It's probably still in use for 2 reasons (the fact that it's public domain/free and in probably every production studio's sound FX library, and in some cases, probably an homage).
