Iv given up on my SIG .40, I'm just not hitting like I want with it. Charles Daley makes a decent 1911 for under $500, I've had two of them and I like them. The HK 45C isn't too big but it's for sure out of your price range. Good luck.

I like the XD or XDm in any caliber. Hubby just sold the XD45 and I really liked it. Oh well.
For 1911, I shot a Springfield and a Desert Eagle and was spot on with the Desert Eagle. It was really nice and not much money. If you are willing to go over the $700, you could look at the H&K P30 with the LEM v2 trigger. Hubby just got one but in 9mm. He put the small grips on it is pretty nice for my small hands. Even the medium grips aren't bad for me. Not sure if the 40 would change the grip size. Good Luck finding one though, only one store had the 9mm. They run around $900 with tax. |

The Para Warthog single stacks are nice. I have a double stack and have no problem carrying with a Mr. Softee holster.

Hunt up an old West Germany made SIG Sauer P220 in .45ACP and call it a day.

Just an Echo But if you can Find a Star PD they are a great Carry gun. Essentially a "Officers Mode; sans the the grip safety. I had one two wives ago I wish I had never sold.
(parts don't interchange with a standard 1911 though) witness is a good item but larger than you may want. If you find a good one ( I have seen some sketchy ones) a used SA officers size can work as well. Inside your budget

I'd like to thank everyone for their input. Some school stuff sapped away some of my budget so I ended up making a few compromises.
I went and got some hands on time with some of the guns recommended. I went back and looked at the Glock 30 and 36. I want to like them, really, I do. They are in line with something I would carry. In the end, though, the grips just don't agree with me. The 30 is just not comfortable in any way in my hands, while the 36 is just to wide front to back to get a good grip. The size of the pistol would have been nice, and I found a G36 at a good price, I just hate how it feels in my hand. The PX4 was a cool ass gun. It felt good in the hand and looked cool as shit. The price was a little more than I was hoping, and I'm still iffy on .40 cal. I'm also at a new point where if I'm going .40 cal, I think I'd rather get 10mm. But that's a different gun hunt for a different day. The lower budget killed off any of the HKs, Kimbers, and other stuff, but that's fine really. So what'd I do? I took a bit of a gamble. After seeing some reviews and talking to a buddy who has one, I bought a Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe holster for my XD45. I've seen a few videos on youtube of people using those holsters to conceal the same gun I have and it looks virtually undetectable. With the cash I saved not buying a fancy gun, I also picked up an ATI 1911 GI for a pretty nice price. I've wanted a 1911 for a while now, and this one looks pretty good. Again, thank you everyone for your input. I may need the help again when it comes time to shop for 10mm.
