It is possible in theory, but that possibility decreases the hotter the girl gets. If the guy doesn't look like a mutant and is nice, but the girl is a moose, the chances aren't good either.

I say yes and no. My best friend is female and attractive. When we first met we hung out a lot and I will admit my intentions were to sleep with her. Finally one night it happened and a few weeks later she started dating a guy (who she is now engaged to). We have been close friends for so long now that I never think of her this way and it seems strange to.

On the flip side back in college I was really good friends with 4 girls who roomed together in the dorm next to me. I never set out to sleep with any of them but they were all SMOKING hot and extremely intelligent which is a huge turn on for me. Everything was fine until they got to the comfort level where they would walk around naked (i.e. after getting out of the shower or changing etc). One day I was sitting on the couch and the hottest of the bunch was sitting across from me in a thong putting on lotion while we were watching TV. Knowing that she didn't think of me in a sexual way I had to ask her to put some clothes on because it was driving me crazy. It was really awkward for me after that because all I could think about when I was with them was sex so we started hanging out less and less. One night we were all at a party and afterwards we went back to their room and I ended up hooking up with 2 of them. After that night everything went back to normal, we never had sex again and the nudity started up again but it was cool because I had satisfied my curiosity. Chalk it up to the primal male conquering complex or whatever.

In my experience I think it is something that just needs to happen to get it out of the way. Also I think it depends on how much sex you are getting elsewhere at the time because as every guy knows the longer the dry spell the more you see sex appeal in places you ordinarily wouldn't.

I wouldn't go that far. My "the guy doesn't look like a mutant and is nice, but the girl is a moose" statement is when the equation shifts and the girl is the one who wants it. Call it the "Some Kind of Wonderful" syndrome, only being a movie it has more attractive people than real life would.

There was just an articel about this on MSN a couple of weeks ago. And the short answer is no. Someone ALWAYS develops some kind of sexual attraction. Its how its dealt with that matters. And you cant say what if he/she is ugly. Good looking guys RARELY have ugly female friends. And good looking women RARELY have ugly male friends.
