Safety may have been his major concern but if the points were much tighter I doubt he would have chosen not to race. AMA road racing is dead and he knows it.

he sees the writng on the wall with the ama so i am sure that helped push him to retire. He did run in toto gp and I think WBSK a long time ago and got his ass handed to him thats partly why he stayed in AMA.
