However on the mountain roads here the only time any ground is made up by my sportbike buddies is on the really long sweapers..the rest of the stuff the tard is the boss

Are you topping the bike out on those straights or are you just running out of power to really make any time whatsoever? I'd suggest changing out the gears to make it slightly taller if you top it out. You can always carry the extra speed into the turn with a little braking and downshifts, but you can't put an extra gear or MPH on a bike that's maxed out as it is.

I suppose it's to my advantage that I ride a 1.8mi course that's "small" near me. The ZX barely got to 130mph on the biggest straight before I'd have to shut it down and ride the brakes into the oncoming turn(s). I put 15x37 gearing on the tard and really didn't even need 5th gear on the biggest straight, so I may change it up to 15x40 or something.

I'm out of power....

I'm not tapping the rev limiter as much as I'm reaching the aerodynamic/power threshold (I believe) right at 105.

I thought about taller gearing, but I’m afraid it might make it even worse where I’d run even further away from the torque sweet-spot.

I LOVE the power of this 660 down low…it’s a friggin TRACTOR, but it has NO top end HP.

I’ve researched a dual flatside/747 piston kit that could take me to 70 hp but that’s breaking the $2k barrier, and I’m not sure I want to invest that into this bike. PLUS…then you take a tried and true bulletproof motor and turn it into a possible grenade.

I think my best bet it is to stick to the smaller tracks where THIS gearing will prevail…..it’s that or grab a small bottle of Nitrous and throw a 30 shot in it every time I approach a straight

How often do you need to change the oil on it? My DRZ would go about 2000 miles between oil changes if I used the good stuff, 1000 with crappy non-synthetic oil.

All I ever used at H2R was fourth and fifth gear and was lucky to hit 95.

Good question - I was told 3000mi for the trans, and 1500? for the motor. But in dirt riding it was every 8hrs. I think my general consensus without leading me to a quart of synthetic every week is getting a trackday out of the motor, and then any free time in a parking lot or trail before the next trackday is what I'll run before changing it. I suppose 3 trackdays and I'll do the trans just to keep it fresh.

Problem is I don't know how far either is since it doesn't really have an odometer. The trailtech was crapping on the guy before I got it(wont read RPMs anymore), but I did see that it reads ambient & motor temps(important to me) and a general sense of mph. I say general because it has the sensor cable running to the front wheel, and I can't trust it 100%.
