On a smaller bike, he's not going to fit and it's going to be REAL awkward trying to ride that bike around a field or anywhere else. |

That bike is a rip off. Half of those parts are worthless for resale. All that performance shit doesn't really do much. You can get a big bored KLX110 that's built with the same custom parts in the low 1000s and it would beat the ever living shit out of that bike.
Tell your friend to go to Planetminis.com and find a clean cheap bike on there if they want a midsize mini. I agree with everyone else, get him a big bike. A CRF230F is a good place to start for someone that age.

I was riding a yz250 at that age and earlier. I never rode a 125 or anything like that. I had a 50cc minibike though when I was like 8.
Tell him to like this http://flint.craigslist.org/mcy/2034204002.html KX250 and I don't even like Kawi's and it's $1900 http://flint.craigslist.org/mcy/2031897841.html YZ 250 $1250 Buy the kid some stickers to put on it. Then explain what a real dirtbike is and a pit-bike and tell him the other kids will make fun of him for riding a bling bling fake bike. And if he is worth his weight as a young man he will have that custom pitbike beat to shit within a week.

wrong bike for a 6 footer if you ask me. also standard rule of any thing mechanical. the more you modify it the less reliable it is. when it comes time to fix it you need to know everything that's in it so replacement parts can be found.
as has been said, i agree with 125 2 stroke or 250 4 stroke bike. he will be much happier in the long run. the ycan make a 110 look pretty good in an ad but it is still just a mini bike. the bike itself might be alright for him if it was stock and if they understood he would want more within a season if he liked it. i would pass on that one. you could as a "bike guy" offer to go look at a couple bikes with him. point out a couple things he needs to look for and what not. kind of get his mind in the right frame to look at the machine not just all the stuff that's been added to it. |
