almost 20k now... and runs like a champ, this engine just keeps getting better with the more miles i put on it

How's your foot position for the inside foot. Just the placement alone will prevent you from getting that knee flexed out a bit more. In the begining, it should feel uncomfortable. Just make sure your upper is moving off, too. Put your armpit over your gas cap. Worry about putting your head by your mirror later. I still don't do that.

I will say one thing, the bike he was riding was not the best for getting your body postion in the right place easily. That thing felt like shit to sit on from a kneedragging point of view. Probably was nicer for touring the long distance he did though.
