I grew up in Queens until I was 15, then moved out to Westhampton w/ my parents.. Bought my house in Manorville 3 yrs ago. Some people that I went to school with that were native to WH were fucked up judgmental pricks. Never liked any of those people. The people I became friends with didn't have rich parents but were still native to places like East Quogue and Hamptons bays and such. Different type of ppl, for sure.

MUCH MUCH different than NYC.

You can always tell who is originally from Queens (and then moved out to the "Island") and who was born and raised out in the sticks.

Queens folk are always friendly and quick to offer a conversations.
Native Long Islanders are judgmental, wont acknowledge you snooty pooties.
Thats right...I said snooty pooties.

Engineers..tend to be judgmental and outside of the field of interest are hard headed and close minded.

The truth about living with "financial, legal, advertising, or journalism"

Financial - Investment folks really live up to the stereotype of asshole. Non investment types are all over the map.

Legal - Arrogance, elitist pricks through most firms but those that specialize in labor have some good folks. Public sector legal is filled with whiney "I'm broke...mah student loans are so big!! Why can't I get a job at that place I want a job at?!!"

Advertising - Holy fuck all hell between these folks and fashion industry scum I want to punch a hipster with a skinny mocha lachatto death grip on a fashion magazine just finished a salad plastic sunglass...fuck I can't even begin on these people. Big on opinions...small on actual clues. On anything.
If enough people like something on social media then it is 100% fact.
Thats how these people roll.

Journalism - Broke...waiting to be fired or has already been fired and now contributes to a "blog". I don't cross paths with any of the new breeds or tech writers who seem to be a dime a dozen (and broke) but the old guard is in the family. Overall...it seems to be a lot of rehashing of the same old shit you find out is trending.

post now ends as I stop procrastinating

You know how I know you're from NY?
You differentiate Queens from "the island" even though Queens is ON the motherfucking island.

Don't ever say that to someone from NYC

It always ends with "Fuck you and your 'books'...asshole."

WRONG

The Houston region is now the most ethnically diverse large metropolitan area in the country, surpassing New York City.

"These findings are from a report released Monday by Rice University researchers, based on an analysis of census data from 1990, 2000 and 2010."

How do they define diverse?

Are they simply saying Houston has a high % of "minorities"? What do they consider a minority?

OK, you have a shit-ton of Mexicans, and maybe some Chinese & Vietnamese......big deal. I can guarantee you that NY has more Italians, Irish, Israelis, French, Greeks, Russians, Polish, Jamaiicans, Puerto Ricans, Africans, Persians, Ukranians, Romanians.......you name it. A lot of those people wouldn't even be counted as a minority, but they certainly contribute to diversity.

Ethnically diverse doesn't mean a diversity of opinions or viewpoints.
It just means you get a bonus prize in conversations.

Jews - "My grandma survived the holocaust and I can't meet anyone on j-date"
Blacks - "It's because I'm black (as to why they didn't get invited to a KKK meeting)"
Blacks who originate from the Caribbean - "My <insert relative here> just got there masters from <insert school here>. Those damn <insert Puerto Ricans or Domincans> probably going to break into the house and steal the diploma."

Chinese - If native chinese..they will try to pretend you are not there and if you don't leave the put on a face mask and run away)

American born Chinese background - "Something something Asian something something something..chinese invented everything"

Hong Kong background - "Everything good was invented in Hong Kong...we snuck it out of there to keep the Chinese from taking it."
Mexican - "I'm Texan" or "LA has some really nice areas to live"

Indian - "The reason why you are having chest pains..." or "I have written this code elegantly"

White dudes - "Damn <insert above minorities> only got that job because of affirmative action" (after scoring a crappy personality score in the interview process)

White girls - "Those damn white guys get paid more than I do" (said while on 30 minute personal phone call at work)

WTF....why did I just waste time righting that.
I think I just blew my chances at a political career.
