Dude the Japanese bow greeting is a thousands of years old tradition. Fist bumping is NOT out national greeting ritual. If he suddenly wanted to be a "soul brother" he should have hit him with the "soul brother" handshake with a half hug and clap on the back. That's what me and my bros do.

Occasionally, you'll get some white guy try it with a black guy.
Not only is it unprofessional, unsightly and awkward, its also a good way for the white guy to get the "closet racist" check mark in the rumor mill file.


Everyone else..firm handshake for the win unless cultural norms are a factor (FORMAL greeting used in other cultures)

LOL. I didn't say the fucking grocery store.

I see all of this guys as just another man. I expect you to show me the same respect as you would the Dali Lama if we met.

And I see a lot of crying in this thread but it didn't seem to me like the Dali Lama was upset by the whole thing.

BTW I asked my younger brother quickly on the phone what he thought about it. He hasn't heard about it but he didn't think it was disrespectful.
