As I see it, the point here is that the Fire/Police/Ambulance calls are strictly for emergency use, and any other uses should be charged for?

It seems the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma has a few people that might agree with you. An item was brought before the City to start charging to "recover fees from motor vehicle accidents for services that are outside the scope of basic crime prevention, investigation and fire protection."

This I would have a problem with. What are they saying? If your accident isn't serious enough, if you aren't injured, that you should be charged a fee for those services assisting you?

Surely anybody in police, fire, or EMS would agree that their salary pays for them to respond to these sorts of calls among other things.

The problem I have with it is "Where does it stop?"

IMO any accident should be covered. But I don't see a problem with charging for a non emergency call.

Trucks get charged all the time in the States for various "accidents".

At some point people need to take responsibility for their actions. I just can't imagine ever even thinking to call the fire department (even after someone might've suggested it). Just because someone suggested it does not absolve you of any responsibility for taking a different course of action.

You know, I've stayed out of most all of this because, well mainly because Ed says shit on here and something the shit he says is out of line and he deserves some goading.

Kel, from you, that's the crappiest thing I've ever heard. Why don't you stop your fucking whining about not having a job and go work at a god damned 7-11?

Get off your fuckin' high horse.

I came home after working 4 12 hour shifts at 18 weeks pregnant where we were short staffed by at least 2 aids and 3 nurses each day. Freakin' exhausted. I was pissed. I tried to get in, but couldn't so I told him to handle it while I went to the neighbors. He did.

The firemen were very nice, thank god they're not all like DragonPaco or whatever the fuck your self rightous son of a bitch's name is because otherwise we'd all be in for a world of hurt when we citizens have a call for help.

Fuck you all. I'm takin' my ball and going home.

Moira, I'll see you in a couple weeks. :P

Edit: I'm taking that first part out simply because I'm going to excuse your incredible rudeness and chalk it up to you being pregnant (whining about it but....I'm just saying).

Nothing in this thread is whining. But your husband comes on here bitching about everyone and everything. He's the first person to jump down people's throats about shit from his fucked up perspective and his horse is the highest of them all.

Do you know why people jump back at him.....because he deserves it and he does it to them. Most people's goading of Ed has nothing more to do with the fact that for YEARS he has been the self-righteous one.

No one said anything about you in this thread other than good natured joking about you taking care of it and not him. As a nurse you'd think you'd know what it's like when your services aren't used in the manner in which they're intended.

So you m'lady can piss the fuck off!
