Thats interesting, from the little I have read the caimans were the prefered crocodilian since they stay small compared to an american gator. I saw a show a long time ago where a family had a prety much full grown american alligator that just wandered the house and was super tame.

I'll have to vote for the guinea pigs. Had them for most of my life, just love them to death. Clean the cage once a week, food and water every day. The best thing about them is you can leave for 2-3 days and no one has to look in on them.

get a PIG!! Smarter than dogs, clean and supposedly very personable...but nm, kinda like dogs I guess on the upkeep...

if you get a guinea pig, get one like the one in Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler...

rabbits and guinnea pigs live longer but rats, mice and gerbils/hamsters are usually good fo rabout 3 yrs. my sister had a gerbil that made 5 years though.
