If you're making a living at <insert generic retail outlet> and barely getting by then eating anything other than Ramen noodles can be considered "living beyond one's means." There are many more factors at play than just subprime/irresponsible/predatory lending, though of course the Banks do their part to ensure the large division between the rich and poor keeps growing.
