I'll give you this, Obama does seem to be pissing off everyone, both Republican and Democrat...so while he may not be driving it quite as up the middle as a true independent, he very well may be on the right track. Usually, if you're pissing EVERYONE off equally, you're pretty much doing it right.

I hope he does more of this. I doubt the GOP will let it be in front of cameras again.
Is there a link to the full session? Because I watched this and didn't see anything special. He didn't "take the gloves off" at all. Seems like MSNBC trying to make it into something more than it was. Which isn't surprising for them.

Try this: http://www.c-spanarchives.org/program/291730-1#

Oh, BTW, that was from the Nightly News (the lead story), it was just "rebroadcast" on MSNBC.com

Agreed, sort of...

Obama is being hampered by his own party. It's like herding cats, they're all over the map.

That's the one thing Republicans have going for them. They excel at the lock-step. They may be headed off the cliff of stupidity, but dammit, they hold hands better than Thelma and Louise on the way down.

Its funny... The fact that he can't give clear direction and refuses to take a stand to actually LEAD his party is why he is failing, but plenty of people out there love to claim that this guy is a good leader. Beyond the laughable content in the speech and his inability to lead this guy is a fantastic leader

Until Obama actually takes a risk and Acts, on Equal Rights for Gays in the Military, I will never take him seriously. Anyone that betrays that is willing to betray those with the weakest voice who worked the hardest for him, because it is Politically expedient, has displayed a lack of character, that indicates nothing he says can ever be trusted!

I believe you may be able to take him seriously this Tuesday.

That's when Gates is announcing a new policy, or so I'm told.

When your agenda is dependent on the votes of Congress pissing everyone off seems counterproductive.

As for his "new fucking ideas", most of what he is doing follows what Roosevelt laid out in the 1930s. It isn't exactly new.
