The Duke - Greyhound Adoption
Well Brinks wants a bud and being dogs are pack animals we think a second dog would be a good idea. We decided that this time around we want to adopt. We looked at many adoption agencies as well as the pound. We wanted a big and impressive dog, further, a dog that compliments Brinks. We were looking at Great Danes, Dobes, Rots, ect... Then the wife suggested a greyhound. We looked into it, put in a application and after a 3 interviews got accepted. Our boy came in from a life of speed last weekend. He's at his foster home now and we pick him up this weekend.
We got his new kennel, new bed, nylabone, toys, food, and rise food dishes container all set for him. Even setup his first vet appt a few days after we get him. His kennel name is Wayne. He's 5 yrs old and black coat of speed fur. Uma is nick naming him John Wayne but I think "The Duke" will be more fitting... Here's a couple pics from the half way house in Daytona Beach... |

Greyhounds are GREAT dogs and contrary to popular belief they don't require tons of exercise. Lets just hope Brinks doesn't eat him.

All very true. The greyhounds are known as the "40 mile per hour couch potatote"!
And I think Brinks will still do well with him. The greyhound should be a bit taller than brinks for now which should help. Hell Brinks is pretty good with my mother in laws 4# 4 month old chiwawa (sp?). The bigger question is what will Wayne think of my big ole bud Brinks. |

Brinks and The Duke. I love it! NIcely done on adopting Gasman. I knew a family with two Greyhounds and they claimed all those dogs ever did was sleep. Great dogs though.

Duke will just be his second nick name. I think it will be better to just keep his kennel name the same. Why confuse the poor boy.

A co-worker had a retired racing greyhound. He loved it. Great dog from what I've heard.

I shutter to think what you'll be throwing down on food now, but congrats on the new pet.
