Do these lists only include American engines or are all manufacturers considered?

I had the Chevy 2.2, it wasn't a bad motor, got great mileage in my S-10. My grandfather has a 2.2 Turbo Dodge Caravan, and he loves it.

I think the only real reason you see all US made engines or US desigs even is because the japanese track record is simply so much better overall. I really cant think of any failures in the jap products that arent attributed to stupid.

A magazine like Popular Hot Rodding bagging on American motors.......Who woulda thought?
1974 - 1983 was the darkest period for the Big Three. Total crap quality all across the board. They were still stuck on the mentality that Americans would buy whatever they built. |

The only japanese blunder I can think of is the recent camshaft failures in the toyota tundra. It was a small amount of failures and Toyota took care of them.
Other then engines, Toyota has a campaign running right now to buy back tacomas at 1.5X blue book if the frame has significant rust on it. There is a VIN range thats affected. I forget what it is. |

Even before I read the article, I had picked out 6 of the engines involved!
My Toyota was part of that, although it was not rusted....Here are the related links on that: http://www.reuters.com/article/ousiv...29075220080508 http://www.toyotaframerust.com/ http://jalopnik.com/376911/rusty-toy...lue?mail2=true
