Flying to get bike. What would you take?
Ok. I can have two carry-ons. First off, do you think the helmet is gonna be considered 1 carry on?
I have my GPS w/ram mount, camera, my helmet, my jacket (probably just wear it the whole time), gloves, mp3 player, change of cloths, a disc lock, cargo nets, clear visor (just in case ride at night or bad weather), .................... I'll hit my destination early thursday morning, stay friday, then head back saturday to my dad's city. Then either stay the night, leave sunday to my city or march on saturday. Ya'll think a tank bag is ok to take on a plane? You know everyone is a terrorist now and I don't want them freaking out that theirs magnets in the bag. My A hole doesn't need an exam. What every ya'll can think of just post. I want to be as light as possible, but dont want to forget something. I'm going to try to fit everything in a big back pack I have, if not then I'll take my smaller back pack and a small duffle bag than can be cargo netted to the back seat. Where the helmet during flights and put the tankbag on your leg.

Anytime I fly with moto gear I get my balls busted.
Just leave yourself extra time to deal with it. A lot of those tasked with our "safety" ain't the brightest bulbs on the tree. I've traveled with a tank bag before. If it's magnetic make sure you let them know ahead of time or they will flip.

Tankbag is 1 carry on and the tankbag is the other, if you have a bookbag with clothes then check that.
Last time I flew with a helmet and my riding jacket I was pulled aside for questioning while they tried to figure out what the hump was for on my back, they kept asking if it had a hidden compartment. The gloves were even worse, those had to be checked because they were considered weapons with the hard knuckles

Put stuff in cardboard box & check it in. Get to destination, throw box in trash, gear up, ride home.

I've carried my moto gear as carry-on several times and I've never gotten the third degree.
I carry everything I normally carry in my tankbag for a short trip when I've done as you mention..well, other than my Leatherman. LOL
