Default Need camera that takes super close shots.

I LOVE to post pics when I'm working on my wheels or PC stuff. 90% of the time I need to take a pic that is inches away from something. I have a SONY dsc-w290 and it sucks at that. Needs to be almost a foot away to do clear close ups. I had a KODAK v1253 that was awesome at super close ups, but it fell ill of the sticking lens and auto shut offs.

I need a $200ish camera that likes to be up close and person. Don't care about the zoom. Would like it to capture HD vid too, but as a last resort it doesnt have to.

Ricohs are good at that

Of course, they are not one of the "hipster-accepted" brands

1) Has a good optical zoom, wide to 28mm; 15x
2) Has Macro mode
3) Says "Nikon" on it
4) Meets your price point

Any quality camera with Macro settings should do what you want. Or if you go the more expensive route you can get a Macro lens.

Almost every camera claims to have a macro setting, even cellphones......but Ricohs can focus down to 1cm

Don't lie; you are looking for a camera that takes close-up shots so you can send pricktures that make your little fella look bigger than he is.

It may be a stupid question but just to cover the bases, does the Sony still do poorly with close shots when in macro mode (flower on the 4 way rocker switch)?
